Which do you prefer, Kinoko or Takenoko? Let's give them a try!
Hundreds of samples were prepared to make the ideal one with commitment to the quality and shape of chocolate and cracker, and its manufacturing method. Finally in 1975, the first-generation Kinoko no Yama was born.
In 1979, Takenoko no Sato was born as a successor product of Kinoko no Sato, featuring an enhanced baking method for its cookie dough.
The Kinoko-Takenoko controversy first emerged around 1980, and in 2001, the "Kinoko-Takenoko National Vote" advertising campaign was launched on the official website of Meiji.
Under the name of "CHOCOROOMS" (choco + mushroom), Kinoko no Yama was launched in the USA.
"Kino Yama-san", an
official character of
"Kinoko no Yama"
debuted.
"Take Sato Brothers", an
official character of
"Takenoko no Sato"
debuted.
“Which do you prefer, Kinoko or Takenoko?”
Seeking a resolution to the heated debate that lasted for about 38 years, the "Kinoko-Takenoko National Vote" advertising campaign was conducted in 2018, aiming to gather public opinions.
Following the result of the Kinoko-Takenoko National Vote held in the previous year, Team Kinoko rebranded itself as the "New Kinoko Party" and requested a rematch!
Featuring the "New Kinoko Party" and the "New Takenoko Party", a renewed Kinoko-Takenoko National Vote took place!
Previously, we only asked Japanese people about their preference between Kinoko no Yama and Takenoko no Sato. Now, we have undertaken a comprehensive national survey to assess their level of fondness for the snacks.
The next phase of the
battle will be
fought in an
international scale…
