The rate of absorption is a key
factor with collagen.
It varies depending on the
base ingredient.
Normal collagen exists in a fiber-like form, which is insoluble in water and thus is hardly absorbed by the body. On the other hand, low-molecular weight collagen is made by reducing molecular weights from about 300 thousand for normal collagen to a few thousand, making it soluble in water. It does not coagulate when cooled and is easily absorbed by the body.
Amino Collagen is made from fish scales and skin from which the calcium is carefully removed. Pure collagen is extracted from the scales and skin and converted to a white "collagen peptide*" powder that is more readily absorbed by the body. Collagen peptide has been specially selected by Meiji based on over 100 years of experience in supplying food and health products.
