Detox to improve beauty from inside the body

Is it true that detox is good for dieting?

Detox is the new craze that’s supposed to be good for dieting.
But many people have some reservations about it for one reason or another, even though they are interested in trying it.
Actually, to practice detox properly, it’s important to optimize your everyday life and diet. By gaining a correct understanding of what detox is and how it should be implemented, you can reap its full benefits through your daily life. We asked the following questions to Dr. Takashi Omori, who is the director of the Tokyo Kenko Clinic.

First, what is detox?

Certain amounts of toxic substances accumulate in our bodies over time without us knowing, which include metabolic waste, hazardous chemicals such as endocrine disrupters that enter the body from outside, and hazardous minerals such as silver, lead, cadmium, and arsenic. So when the term “detox” is used, it mainly refers to the process of ridding our body of hazardous minerals. Research on this has made the most progress so far. Although we ingest hazardous minerals through the foods and water we consume every day, we are fine as long as our bodies quickly get rid of them in the form of stool, urine, sweat, hair, and nails. Research indicates that removing those substances improves our physical condition. What types of toxins accumulate in our bodies?

Is detox good for my dieting?

Detox is a process of removing what your body doesn’t need to improve its normal condition. If your basic physical condition improves, it increases your metabolism and allows you to diet successfully. However, you should not simplify this to mean that detox is equivalent to dieting. If you practice detox too much or become overconfident in what it can do and neglect to see your doctor when you really need to, it could lead to serious consequences, so you need to take care.

Is there any type of detox I can do myself?

You can practice detox in your daily life. Here are some tips on how to do it stress-free and conveniently.

1)Drink at least one liter of water every day.

Staying hydrated helps your body to discharge toxins. You can drink anything you like for this, such as herbal tea, green tea, coffee, tea, etc.

2)Watch your diet to avoid ingesting toxins.

Choose safe foods if possible, such as organic vegetables. When you eat fish, be sure to remove the gills and guts, and any other parts that might be contaminated with dioxins. If you are cooking fish by boiling, be sure to pour some boiling water over them first. When cooking meat, try to skim off the scum that floats on the surface. When preparing vegetables, first wash them in tap water, and then rinse them with purchased mineral water or home-purified water (water purified through reverse osmosis* is ideal).

3) Eat detoxing foods.

The vegetables that are used for seasoning, such as garlic, ginger, and green onion, as well as green leafy vegetables, are known to bind to toxins and remove them from the body. Eating tomatoes and sardines is also recommended as they promote the detoxification process. Foods that are rich in dietary fiber, such as burdock and konjac, facilitate the discharging of toxins.

4) Exercise.

It’s OK to just do some simple stretching or move your body more as you do your regular household choirs. Start exercising in any way you can.

5)Relax.

Do whatever your favorite activity is, half-body bathing, etc. It’s important to create time to set your body and mind free once in a while.

What sort of positive benefits would yogurt have when I'm detoxing?

When you observe your own stool habit, do you go to the toilet at about the same time every day? How about the amount, color, and shape of your stool? Does it look healthy to you?
If your excretion is normal, your body is able to flush out all the unwanted toxins. When you eat yogurt, it increases the population of good bacteria in the intestines, and improves the environment inside your intestinal tract. So, if you want to practice detox efficiently, you should also eat yogurt, because it helps improve the abdominal condition. Eat yogurt regularly to optimize your intestinal condition.
