- Iron and calcium are important nutrients that support the development of toddlers. However, a health and nutrition survey of Japanese, conducted in 2012, revealed that more than 50 percent of children between the ages of one and two failed to consume the recommended dietary allowance*3 of these nutrients. Iron, which is stored in babies’ bodies when they are born, begins to decrease once they are six months old and tends to be lacking. - During the toddler years, children tend to play with their food or eat inconsistently, often resulting in vitamin and mineral deficiencies. - DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is well known as a lipid found in large quantities in tuna and other fatty fish. It is one of the nutrients that is important to consume in adequate amounts because it supports development during the toddler years. DHA is not found in cow’s milk. Meiji Step, on the other hand, is formulated with 40mg of DHA per 400ml serving.
